I’ve come across a few funny bloopers. Enjoy! The ‘apostrophe’ is used in wrong places at times, letters get interchanged while painting…. some letters get missed….

This is another of my favourite songs from the 1965 kannada movie “Miss Leelavathi”. The male singer is Ramachandra singing with S.Janaki, the Lata Mangeshkar of Kannada. Lyrics: K.V.Puttappa (Kuvempu).

A friend’s friend posted this on facebook. The tune in this lovely song impressed me to the extent that I have very often listened and hummed with it two dozen times in 8-10 days!

Full Moon Day today

See my album here. Pictures and captions explain the predicament of this tax-payer what he and the family (and also the neighbourhood) gets in return. Toxic fumes and ugly sight. The garbage truck passes by each morning sometimes picking up the pile and sometimes without. Even if it cleans the spot – it usually comes around half past seven in the morning – some residents send their servants to throw large amounts of garbage after 9 or 10 am or even any time of the day! The passing urchins and rag pickers search the pile and before going, light a match to it! But regularly the Pourakarmika himself, probably to help reduce the burden on his colleagues on the garbage truck, lights a match and goes away and joins his group which spends the entire day in the vicinity. He always scorns my appeal not to burn, with his typical tone. The corporator expresses helpnessness!

First of all, why are we throwing waste out like that in a common place and invite rag pickers?

Why cannot the Corporation arrange door to door collection of garbage from each and every household?

Why are public and pourakarmikas not aware of hazards of burning plastic etc.?

Who will remove automobile glass from there?

Inspired by GVK’s post, here are a few from my archives. The collage shows our home’s – my mother is an artist in it. Each day, she has a new design. I boast, none can match the finesse from her fingers esp. when the curves and straight lines are drawn. I never stop admiring her skill even at her old age.

The others are from different places. Early in the mornings, the ladies of the houses clean the gate/doorfronts of their houses with water after sweeping and then draw the rangoli. It carries the belief that it drives away evil spirits and welcoming Goddess Lakshmi into the homes and signifies auspiciousness.

Do not know from where they have been walking along to reach ‘Ayyappa Swamy” when I found a group of these devotees on Krishnaraja Boulevard last month. This young man kindly stopped by for a picture. They walk barefoot. Look where he is standing…. stone pebbles driven out by speeding wheels from a rough pothole. How ‘insensitive’ the feet must have already become! They still have many tens of miles to walk along. I saw a few of them wearing anklets used by sportspersons and a couple of others had tied rags to their feet to prevent blisters, lest their journey gets disrupted. I sometimes wonder if God asks mortals to take trouble like this to ‘reach’ Him through such means. They walk light and has minimum requirements for travel as they have also to climb a steep hill as they close in on their destination.

Riduculous renaming of street

An example of whims and fancies of whoever that was responsible for renaming a cross road is in this picture. It is Veene Seshanna Road 2nd Cross (see embedded original name board behind the ugly concrete one) here in Mysore renamed (or so they feel) as ‘famous writer Chaduranga Road’!
